In the Lab, our Beauty Lab pros test any waterproofness claims and use Visa images before and after application, which are later compared and rated on each mascara’s ability not to smudge, run or flake when exposed to water. Finally, after all the data is collected, we score all the testing to make our picks.

While we didn’t get to Lab test every last fiber mascara on this list, below are our top picks based on Lab tests, editor and chemist favorites or those that are highly rated and reviewed. The shorter wand and spoolie also make this mascara easier to apply according to one shopper.

If you want the look of false lashes without the hassle of glueing and applying them, this unique two-step mascara claims it can do it all, lengthening and volumizing lashes without smudging or clumping all while being waterproof. Though we haven’t put this to the test in the Lab, it has a 4.0 rating and over 9,000 reviews.

Younique is known for its mascaras and this fiber mascara is one of its most popular formulas. We haven't tested this specific formula in our Lab but it claims to add volume, length and lift to lashes with its Y-shaped fiber formulation and double-sided brush with a flat and curved side.

You don’t need to go farther than your drugstore to find a quality fiber mascara. In our evaluation of this mascara, testers gave it high marks for its natural appearance and ability to createlashes that are defined and lengthened but not crunchy or stiff. Testers also liked how this didn’t irritate their eyes and was easy to remove. Testers did comment this mascara can flake and be difficult to apply.

The illegal Length Fiber Mascara promises to add dramatic length to each eyelash with its fiber formulation thatcontains 4mm fiber extensions with a sealing formula to extend lashes. We have yet to test this in the Lab, but it has a 4.4 rating with over 1,400 reviews on Amazon. Shoppers praise this mascara for its lengthening effect and say it’s better than more expensive brands.

According to Lorac their Pro Plus Fiber mascara has been clinically tested to increase the appearance of lash volume by 2,100% and helps lashes curl upward.We haven't put this through our Lab tests but it has over 400 reviews on Amazon with shoppers saying it gives them “dramatic looking lashes.” Take note, some reviewers say the brush is pretty large and there is a learning curve to using it.

Em Cosmetics Pick Me Up Volume and Length Mascara is made by popular beauty influencer Michelle Phan and it has quite the following with over 200 reviews and a 4.5 rating on the website. This mascara claims to lengthen lashes and add volume with its tubing and fiber formula without smudging or flaking. While we didn't test this in the Lab, followers of this mascara back this up and one fan says that this didn’t smudge and lasted all day even with their oily skin.
